Web Design and Creation
This portfolio is shockingly out of date. I will correct this in the new year

Platos People (v1.0) was an exciting and challenging project to work on, it marked my first foray into bespoke database driven, dynamic websites. The site’s concept itself is disarmingly simple, yet unique; a directory website to match skilled professionals to interim assignments, think Monster.co.uk meets Match.com!
<br />
<br />
Despite the underlying technologies, it was important to keep everything on the surface straightforward and easy to use. Utilising outside talent to construct the database, I took the client every step from an idea sketched out to a fully functional, intuitive web application.
<br />
Currently working on v2.0 due May! Freelance photographer Amy Saltonstall liked using the photo sharing website flikr but she wanted a more personal way to display her portfolio of work, while maintaining that sites functionality and ease of use.
I believe that a projects success can depend largely on good collaboration.

This website was constructed as part of my sister’s major final art project for her Leeds College of Art and Design course. We worked together to make sure that her style and concept had both impact and clarity.
<br />
<br />
The site features streamed video, a forum and a random quote generator. Holiday home entrepreneurs, Mike and Gill Hore wanted a more dynamic way to promote their newly renovated luxury holiday villa.
<br />
<br />
The website has proven to be a great way of giving prospective tenants a much larger insight into this beautiful property; more than a print ad or review listing could have achieved by itself. Bill Cover needed a clean cut, straight talking website to promote their unique business idea.

The no-nonsense approach is evident in the big and bold style, with everything on the site neatly divided into sections with light gray borders to guide the eye.
<br />
<br />
I worked closely with the director to ensure his concept was successfully communicated and consistency was kept across all their promotional material.

Print Design

Jlife magazine is a glossy monthly publication that is distributed to over 8,000 homes in Leeds. I’m one of two graphic designers who lay the magazine out, source artwork and create custom graphics and illustrations as required. I have also created a number of promotional spreads including work for Jaguar and Marriot Hotel. This is a sample spread I constructed that appeared in the May edition of Jlife magazine. The feature was a paid advertorial for the Crown Hotel in Leeds I was commissioned by a new start-up media group to create a pilot of a magazine they sought to launch Spring 2007. I created the logo and constructed a 40 page realisation with custom graphics and illustration. Unfortunately, the magazine never acquired enough funding to launch despite enthusiastic responses to the concept and design. A sample spread from Up North magazine.

 A logo can be the single most important design decision a company makes. It dictates how people perceive a business and often informs the rest of the companies “look and feel.”

See web design for more infomation. Working with Bill Cover gave me an appreciation of the seemingly simple yet highly complex nature of image construction.<br /> What began as a commission for a logo became a commission for an entire promotional campaign including website, business cards and stationary.<br />See also web design for this client.

 Working for two ad agencies in West Yorkshire has given me a broad experience of commercial design and layout; from in-store high fashion P.O.S promos to motorcycle rally posters.
Agency Work continued. More examples - please note use of the impact font was at client's insistance ;) I'm available for one off or recurring illustration jobs. If your unhappy with your exsiting design work, why not ask me about a revamp?
