A Dip in the ocean

Thursday. Awoke around 7am to the bizarre sight of Jade reading; she
had been woken by the thunderous roar of a coach out of gear. This
is propably the only real downside to being so close to the centre,
so much noise and comotion. Anyhow, I just laughed and went back to
sleep, waking at 11 confused and throughly dehydrated.

We decided to have another crack at the beach, only this time be a
little more prepared. I packed GQ mag to read, filled two flasks of
water and had a big lunch at a cafe before going off to the Big Soak.

After checking the times for tomorrows bus journey (6 am - eek!) we
beached it up. We opted for the concreate this time and had a quick
dip in the ocean when we got too hot / uncomfortable. There is sand
but the small patch of it is very busy and similar to the texture of
gravel. The ocean however is wonderfully clear and often you will be
stood there with fish trying to nesstle into your toes; a plesent
feeling for both parties I’m sure.

Later, after a quick nap and a read on the porch at the hostel we
went and had food in another open air cafe. I had bolognaise, jade
checked out the scampi (a local obession but not really anything to
write home about - wait a minute that’s exactly what I’m doing, bah!)

We had a scroll and a cup of tea ( extra honey) then galloped back
to the resturant when we realized our packlunch we had bought ealier
was missing. Bizzarely as soon as I arrived at the eattery, I saw a
waiter discover our stash, poke around in it then begin to walk off
with it. I yelled at him and he just smiled and handed it over as if
he has been waiting for us all along, when I know a minute ago he
had fancied it as his tea.

Back at the hostel early in prep for ourĀ  break-of-sparrow-fart
morning ride tomorrow, not that I think i’ll get much sleep; those
buses just can’t seam to get into gear outside…

Packed a picknick and set off on a long hike up what seamed like mount
Olympus under the brutal mid day sun. Our hard work paid off though as
the views offorded from the top were breath taking.

Back in old town now about to enjoy a meat pizza in a little court
yard we just stumbled across; the numerous backstreets and allyways
give you a sense of discovering a hidden treasure every few minutes.

Last day in split tomorrow then on to Plitvis lakes.
